A missing film crew. A desolate Moorland. Can you solve the mystery? Cradlemoor is a Cinematic Mystery Videogame set on Dartmoor that gives you access to a virtual toybox of evidence and found footage via your home computer, as you attempt to solve the mystery of a film crew that vanished in 2013. In Cradlemoor, you are the detective. Set in the fictional Dartmoor village of Cradlemoor, the game casts you as a journalist who receives a mysterious USB drive containing vital information about a film crew that vanished in 2013. Through various documents and fragments of footage, you will be able to explore the lore and events that surround this mystery, slowly piecing together clues and discovering the truth surrounding the case. Sharing DNA with games like Her Story and shows like Twin Peaks – Cradlemoor is aimed at both traditional and non-traditional gamers. So if you can use a mouse, you can play the game. The game gives you access to an entire virtual computer as you explore the contents of a mysterious USB drive containing evidence pertaining to an unsolved case. Examine authentic police reports, newspaper clippings and fragments of audio and video as you search for clues and connections that will help you unravel the mystery. All the while as the narrative slowly unfolds around you via cut sequences and an interactive messenger and email system. The game also features a virtual casebook where you can take notes, and log clues and files. Rather than dictating answers, the game encourages players to interpret clues in their own way, allowing the wider narrative to be explored inside the imagination, discovering threads, solving mysteries and unraveling the unknown. This game is currently being developed by a small team based in Devon, England thanks to a Research and Development grant from the Arts Council England and will launch into early access in early 2023.
